Show Assistants

There now, that wasn't so bad!

Show Assistants: We're not your average section!

What is a Show Assistant, you ask? We are the lords of duct tape, the sultans of cardboard, the emperors of props, the kings of inventing pretentious-sounding titles! We are the band's largest, most spirited, and most fun section - and with good reason: we are rare among college bands - a nonmusical section not devoted to going out and waving small, silly flags on the field. (We reserve our flag-waving for larger stuff!)

Instead of marching, waving flags, or whatever it is that those other college bands do during a halftime show, we build the props. We do the action. We are the icing on the delicious cake that is a MOB show.

It's impossible to describe in generalities what we do. Basically, though, we build whatever that week's show calls for, out of materials at hand (from our legendary Closet) and then we go out and do it - whatever it happens to be for this show: could be zany acting; could be choreographed dance; could be flying down a huge prop!

We roll! We rock! We are the creative juices of the band! Maybe you'd like to join us? Email our executive producer, Brenton, at propmaster@mob.rice.edu, or take a look at this year's letter to incoming freshmen.

SA Closet Navigator Note: The menu is under construction. You'll just have to play around to get anywhere til we fix it. *Grin*

Saw: The Goodnight's SA page
Keith has been an SA for approximately as long as I've been alive. He's gone off active duty, but still has the most comprehensive SA website ever.

Paintbrush: The Duct Tape Guys
Duct tape is amazing. This site is fun.

Lock: Show Script Archive
If not for these scripts, we'd just be people who throw cardboard around randomly, with no apparent rhyme or reason.
