When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one section to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the band, the separate and superior station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of the audience requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all sections are not created equal, that the Trumpets are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Melody, the Fifty-Yard Line, and the pursuit of eardrum shattering volumes. That to secure these rights, Bands are instituted within Universities, deriving their just powers from the number of Trumpets they have.
We, therefore, the Members of the Trumpet Section, appealing to the Supreme Director of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by the Authority of the good People of this Section, solemnly publish and declare, That these Trumpet Players are, and of Right out to be, Superior in Volume and Character among these Sections; and that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to other Sections and Bands. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Pants, our Trumpets and our sacred Honor.
